Lite-On Technology (2301-tw) today reported first quarter 2015 consolidated revenue of NT$51.54 billion. Thanks to steady growths from LED Components and Lighting, high-end server, networking and game console applications products, coupled with the improved operating results of mobiles Mechanics, the gross margin and operating margin in the first quarter were 12.5% and 3.3% respectively. Q1 operating profits were NT$1.71 billion, with growths of 16% Q-o-Q and 22% Y-o-Y, and net profits were NT$1.65 billion with EPS of NT$0.71, up 13% Q-o-Q and 15% Y-o-Y. Meanwhile, the net cash position reached NT$20.2 billion in Q1.
The Optoelectronics business segment contributed a 25% share of sales, with a revenue decrease of 7% Y-o-Y, mainly due to the Camera Module operating adjustment, while overall LED Components and Lighting revenue showed steady growth, resulting from better end-market demands for LED indoor and outdoor lighting, vehicle lighting, consumer and mobiles applications.
The Information Technologies business segment accounted for 46% of revenue, with a revenue growth of 7% Y-o-Y, of which, both Power Systems and HIS (Human Input Solutions - PC Keyboards and Peripherals) posted revenue growths of approximately 20% Y-o-Y, mainly driven by increases in global demand for server power management systems in cloud computing and game console power products, as well as ongoing market share gains and the delivery growth of keyboards for tablets and PCs.
The Storage business segment accounted for 16% of revenue with a sales decrease of 9% Y-o-Y; nevertheless, operating profits outperformed those of Q1 2014, mainly resulting from increased end-market demand for game console application products.
Moderate growths in sales and margins are expected in Q2, as a result of stable core businesses development.
